Shusher

Privacy policy

In short

Shusher does not collect, store or share any personal data. The app does not even have internet access, so it cannot send anything anywhere.

Microphone

When listening is turned on, Shusher reads the microphone to measure how loud the room is, every few hundredths of a second. The sound is used only to calculate that volume level and is discarded immediately: it is never recorded, saved or transmitted. When the screen turns off, the app releases the microphone. Android shows its microphone indicator whenever the app is listening.

What stays on your device

The app keeps a few settings on the device: the chosen language, the sensitivity level and how many reminders were shown each day. It also keeps the PNG images you choose to add as characters. Nothing of this leaves the device, it is not included in Android backups, and it is deleted when you uninstall the app.

Permissions

Microphone: to measure loudness. Display over other apps: to show the reminder on top of any app. Notifications and foreground service: Android requires a visible notification while the app listens in the background. Shusher does not request internet, location, contacts or any other permission.

Children

Shusher is designed to be set up by parents, caregivers or therapists, and the reminder is shown to the child using the device. Because the app collects no data at all, no information is collected from children or from anyone else.
